8. Pedro Álvares Cabral – The Forgotten Pioneer (1500)

His Historic Voyage (1500–1501)

Route and Events:

  1. Left Lisbon in March 1500 with 13 ships.
  2. On his way, he accidentally discovered Brazil (April 1500).
    • Claimed it for Portugal (it fell on Portugal’s side of the Treaty of Tordesillas).
  3. Then continued towards India.
